SILO bunkers down for its third season…
The third season of SILO now has a release date set for July.
Viewers will remember that Rebecca Ferguson (Mission Impossible, A House of Dynamite) stars as Juliette Nichols the only person to have successfully survived venturing out into the wastelands outside her silo in the desolate future. She did so reluctantly, forced out by those who were manipulating their power and consolidating their position. The inhabitants have an incomplete and askew version of how the silo came to be (and even the fact there are other silos that were constructed to house humanity after a huge ecological disaster) and there are those who would like to keep the general populace in the dark about those origins.
In Season Two we saw Juliette reach another silo and get a better idea of the real state of the world and at season’s end she headed back ‘home’, though she’s unaware of the turmoil there and how far people have gone to get or retain their power and she was left in perilous straits.
The third season will explore the ramifications of those recent events and also feature more scenes from our ‘present’ as journalist Helen Drew (Jessica Henwick) and Congressman Daniel Keene (Ashley Zukerman) uncover a conspiracy in the world, years before the silos were created. Some of the season’s story is drawn from author Hugh Howey’s Shift, the second in his Silo trilogy. Given a change of time/emphasis, Shift did not feature the character of Juliette but showrunner Graham Yost felt that the audience had so much invested in her that they should create parallel stories.
Episodes of the acclaimed Apple TV series will begin on 3rd July and run through its ten episodes until 4th September. The show already has confirmation of a fourth and final season expected to air later next year.
