Kate Winslet joins ‘The Hunt for Gollum’…

Kate Winslet is no stranger to epic movies. She survived Titanic and was recently seen (or, at least motion-captured) in another James Cameron movie Avatar 3: Fire and Ash.

But now she is now entering Middle-Earth with news that she is being lined up to appear in Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. The film, to be directed by Andy Serkis – the actor who brought Gollum to life in Peter Jackson’s Tolkien-inspired stories – with a story that takes place between  The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. It is said to detail Aragorn and Gandalf searching for Gollum in an attempt to learn more about the ‘precious’ One Ring.

We already know that Sir Ian McKellen will reprise the role of Gandalf and there are strong rumours that Elijah Wood will also appear as Frodo.

She first worked with Peter Jackson on Heavenly Creatures, the 1995 film based on the true story of two obsessive teenagers in New Zealand. It was a breakthrough role for Winslet after already making a name on British television. Though not in the director’s chair, Peter Jackson will be producing alongside regular collaborators Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens and at the present time, the release is set for a mid-December 2027 release date.
